It’s that time of year again! Spring Break is finally here. After a long first half of the semester consisting of countless hours at the library, you are ready for a break. For many students, this is a time to completely unwind–no school, no job, and essentially no responsibilities. With the stress of college, everyone needs to take a break and unplug from all of the stress in their life. But whether you are heading home to some home cooked meals, or to the beach for some sunny weather, it is important to stay safe during this relaxing and unwinding week. So, here are 5 ways to ensure that you have a safe, fun, and unforgettable Spring Break. 1. Enforce the buddy system. Going on a trip with a group of fifteen of your closest friends is exciting no matter what the destination. However, going on a Spring Break trip with your friends is the most exciting trip you will take, hands down. While having fifteen people in a group is a lot, there are specific cases where you can get separated. Make sure to enforce the buddy system. Never walk anywhere alone, make sure you are always with someone when you are out, never get into a cab alone, or leave with someone you just met. You have a group of friends with you for a reason; use this to your advantage to make sure everyone makes it home safely each night. 2. Use your money wisely. No one likes being without money, especially on Spring Break. You never want to be the one stuck in the hotel room because you don’t have enough money to go to dinner with the rest of the group. It’s important to be prepared in order to take advantage of every opportunity with your friends. 3. Plan your trip accordingly If you know that your trip is only going to last 5 days, don’t spend any of those days inside wasting it in your room. Spend everyday outside, especially if there is beach time involved. Don’t take naps or watch Netflix, you can do that when you’re dead. Take advantage of every opportunity available to you during these trips because Spring Break only comes once a year. 4. Avoid drama. Going on a trip with a huge group of girls is bound to come with some drama, but try your best to avoid it. Nothing is worth ruining a trip with your closest friends. Leave the boys at home and bad attitudes at home, its better this way. 5. Be a team player. It’s hard to please everyone on a vacation like Spring Break. There will be days when one group wants to go here, and another group wants to go there, and that’s okay. Its important to know that you can split up during the day, and end the night together. Its important to be flexible and appreciate everyone’s input in order to have a successful trip. Trips like these only come once a year, take advantage of it. Be smart, be responsible, and be safe. Happy Spring Break!
