For the past few years, Pinterest has taken the so called “crafty girl” and turned her into a DIY expert. Seriously, from party décor to sprucing up your apartment on a budget, there’s a Pinterest board for just about anything. So it only makes sense that sorority girls have jumped on this bandwagon and are constantly pinning new DIY’s to try. With that being said, here are the top 10 Pinterest boards that a sorority girl has created. 1. Paddle Ideas Every sorority girl knows that a receiving your paddle is almost like a right of passage. Because of this, it’s crucial to chose the right color scheme, patterns, and accessories to make your sister a paddle she will absolutely love. It takes collaboration from multiple pinned photos of nearly perfect ideas. But, make sure that those photos and pins are on a secret board so the big reveal isn’t ruined! 2. Food Ok, let’s get real for a moment. Cafeteria food isn’t always (never) desirable and we can't live on mac and cheese and Hot Pockets forever. Pinterest has become the app that inspires college kids to attempt to make home cooked food, and actually enjoy doing it. Especially if you live off campus and don’t have access to the not desirable, but already paid for cafeteria food, Pinterest comes in clutch when you’re wondering what else you could possibly do with the raw chicken sitting in your fridge. 3. Halloween Costumes For a majority of us, we have Halloween costume ideas year round that we bring up to our housemates, laugh about, and store in the back of our minds until October roles around. But, majority of people also forget about the ideas and all of a sudden Halloween is right around the corner and you and your roommates need three matching costumes! No fear, Pinterest is here. This exact scenario happened to my roommates and I this past October and believe me, I have since created a board dedicated to Halloween costumes so that next year I am prepared. Possible group costumes include:
4. Hair & Makeup I personally find myself turning to Pinterest for hairstyles every time I want something new. What are cute new ways to braid long hair? How do I correctly contour my face? Even looking at different hair colors so I know if I want to dye my hair darker (true story I pinned a few photos and took them to the salon the next day). Whether you need inspiration for a formal hairstyle or want to try a dramatic new lip color, Pinterest is there to provide you with an endless amount of ideas. 5. Wedding Rings Dear future husband, I’m just going to leave these here…. 6. Crafts This is probably one of the most pinned boards a sorority girl has on Pinterest. Ranging from what to spoil her little with during big/little reveal week to how to fill a dorm room in all Gamma Phi Beta decor, the crafting possibilities are endless! 7. DIY for your room/dorm/apartment Pinterest is the perfect place to look if you’re interested in sprucing up your cinderblock walled dorm room or bare off campus house walls. These boards are also a great reference for what you want your first big girl apartment to look like once you graduate and are living on your own for the first time! 8. Party Decorations Pinterest has a wide range of DIY party decoration ideas. Whether you need help planning your sisters baby shower or transforming that huge blank wall into the perfect photo background, Pinterest has the answers. A big trend at the moment is hanging homemade banners, Aztec prints, or draping streamers down one wall and turning it into your personal party photo booth. No matter what you want to do, the possibilities are endless. 9. Nail Designs Maybe this is more of a personal thing because I have acrylic nails, but you can’t deny that when the holidays role around or when you’re feeling fancy that you haven’t turned to Pinterest for some nail-spiration. 10. Clothes Granted being a sorority girl means you have increased your closet by at least 50x the size it was when you arrived to college freshman year, but behind all of those adorable outfit pairings is a pin on Pinterest. Pinterest not only ensures that you are up to date on the latest trends, but gives you ideas on how to spruce up that denim shirt you’ve worn about a thousand times. Pinterest provides us with a plethora of ideas for our hair, outfits, crafts, house, and food. Basically, if we have a question, Pinterest has an answer. It is a girl’s safe haven, because she knows that no matter what, she can count on it, making our love for Pinterest continue to grow each and every day.
So, thank you Pinterest for allowing us to be crafty, trendy, and inspired. You will forever hold a place in our hearts.
